Sara Duterte, Davao City mayor and daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, took her oath as the 15th vice president of the Philippines in her hometown on Sunday, June 19.
The younger Duterte deviated from tradition, holding her inauguration 11 days before her actual term begins at noon on June 30. Duterte’s guests included her father President Duterte, president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, one of the younger Duterte’s key allies in the campaign.
