Floyd Mayweather Sr. picks Timothy Bradley to win over Manny Pacquiao

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Timothy Bradley will win the fight against Manny Pacquiao if they are “on equal terms.”

This is what Floyd Mayweather Sr. told media Friday, June 8, when he attended the weigh-in for the world welterweight title bout between Pacquiao and Bradley.

Mayweather at first refused to give a prediction for the fight saying it could “go either way,” but after some prodding, shared his thoughts.

While he did not outwardly say it, Mayweather implied that if Pacquiao comes to the fight clean, then Bradley would have a chance of beating the eight-division world champion.

“If things are on equal terms, I will go along with Bradley I believe. If things are on the same flat ground,” he said.

After media pointed out that they were on equal terms based on weight, Mayweather shook his head to gesture that he meant something else.

“They might not be on equal terms, they might not be on equal terms. I’m not saying anything. All I’m saying is if they’re not on equal terms [Bradley] might not prevail.”

Mayweather Sr. and his son, Floyd Mayweather Jr. have repeatedly accused Pacquiao of taking performance-enhancing drugs in the past despite any evidence.

Negotiations for a much-awaited fight between Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao have also collapsed in the past because of the former’s demands for Olympic-style drug testing, driven by his adamant belief that Pacquiao has used steroids in past fights.

The younger Mayweather is currently serving a three-month jail sentence for misdemeanor domestic battery and two harassment charges for attacking his ex-girlfriend. Mayweather Sr. refused to answer whether he has visited his son in prison since he surrendered, June 1.

While Mayweather Sr. was at the weigh-in and is gearing up to watch the fight, his son will not be able to watch the bout from his cell, where television, computers and telephones are banned. –
