Anthony Edwards drops 37 to lead Timberwolves past Pacers

Anthony Edwards made 7 three-pointers and scored 37 points to lead seven players in double figures as the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves snapped a two-game losing skid with a 129-120 win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, February 13 (Monday, February 14, Manila time).

D’Angelo Russell scored 23 points and Karl-Anthony Towns added 15 points and 13 rebounds for Minnesota, which shot 18-of-34 (52.9%) from three-point range and led by as many as 18 in the third quarter.

Indiana lost its sixth straight despite a strong outing from Oshae Brissett, who set season-highs with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Tyrese Haliburton had 22 points and 16 assists, Lance Stephenson scored 21 points, Jalen Smith added 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Buddy Hield scored 13.

Naz Reid and Patrick Beverley scored 13 points apiece for Minnesota, while Jaden McDaniels added 11 and Malik Beasley had 10. The Wolves were outrebounded 64-42 but never trailed after moving ahead early in the second quarter.

Edwards made 5 three-pointers and scored 15 points in the third quarter to help put Minnesota ahead 102-98 heading into the final period.

Indiana trailed 126-120 after Haliburton made 1 of his 6 three-pointers, but the Wolves secured the win at the foul line and completed a sweep of the two-game series against the Pacers.

Brissett made his third start of the season and scored 11 points in the first quarter to help Indiana take a 37-33 lead.

Minnesota closed the first half on a 10-2 run and carried a 74-62 lead into the break. The Wolves shot 59.5% in the first half, including 8-of-16 (50%) from beyond the arc.

Edwards scored 16 points in the first half and drilled a three-pointer with 9:48 left in the third quarter to put Minnesota ahead 82-64.

Indiana battled back and cut the deficit to 96-94 when Terry Taylor scored with 1:25 left in the quarter.

Indiana played without Isaiah Jackson (right ankle), Malcolm Brogdon (right Achilles), and Myles Turner (left foot). Guard Chris Duarte exited in the first quarter with a sore big left toe and did not return. – Rappler.com
