MANILA, Philippines – A potential PBA return is in the works for Robert Bolick.

NorthPort head coach Bonnie Tan said on Tuesday, October 24, that the Batang Pier are trying to bring back Bolick ahead of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup after his short-lived stint in the Japan B. League.

“We’re currently, actively in talks with Bolick’s camp. We’re exploring the possibility of his return to our team and to the PBA,” said Tan during the Media Day at the One Esplanade in Pasay City.

Bolick played just one game for the Fukushima Firebonds in the second division of the B. League before the team surprisingly announced last October 19 that it granted his request to be released from his two-year contract.

The do-it-all guard reportedly opted to return to the Philippines due to personal reasons relating to the pregnancy of his wife Cassandra.

NorthPort still holds Bolick’s rights, meaning he is an unrestricted free agent.

“Of course, we’re shocked because we’re all anticipating that he’ll be gone for a year or two because of his contract there,” said Tan.

Tan, though, said the Batang Pier remained in touch with Bolick even after he departed the PBA club.

“When he was in Japan, there was already communication. There was interest for his return,” said Tan. “We’ve been talking since September 9.”

NorthPort will kick off its Commissioner’s Cup campaign against Terrafirma on November 10 and whether Bolick can make it to the conference opener remains in the balance.

“Anything’s possible,” said Tan. “Let’s wait and see what the result will be because he also has options to play in other countries. But I heard the PBA is his priority.” – Rappler.com
