Samantha Bagayas graduated from Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan with a degree in Development Communication, and was the Editor in Chief of The Crusader, the university’s official student publication.
Hailing from Cagayan de Oro City, she first entered Rappler as an intern under MovePH, its advocacy platform and civic engagement arm, in 2017.
Currently, she is a community and civic engagement specialist at Rappler.
As part of MovePH, she writes stories about issues that involve the community. She’s particularly interested in writing about movements and efforts tackling the environment, gender equality, and disaster risk reduction and management.
She also works with core movers and campus journalists across the Philippines to amplify issues affecting their communities. As a pisces, she believes that everyone can take action and inspire courage in their own way.
In her spare time, she hopes to reach greater heights through aerial dance classes and trapeze yoga.
