Samantha Bagayas is the head of civic engagement at Rappler.
Hailing from Cagayan de Oro City, she first entered Rappler as an intern under MovePH, its advocacy platform and civic engagement arm, in 2017. She later became a community and civic engagement specialist at Rappler.
As part of MovePH, she writes stories about issues that involve the community. She’s particularly interested in writing about movements and efforts tackling the environment, gender equality, and disaster risk reduction and management. She also works with Movers and campus journalists across the Philippines to amplify issues affecting their communities.
She graduated from Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan with a degree in Development Communication, and was the Editor in Chief of The Crusader, the university’s official student publication.
In her spare time, she hopes to reach greater heights through aerial dance classes.
