MANILA, Philippines – Actor and TV host Vhong Navarro admitted he cried upon hearing the news that Taguig judge Paz Esperanza Cortes of Branch 271 allowed Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee, and Zimmer Raz to post bail. 

In an interview aired on Bandila Tuesday night, September 16, Navarro said he was saddened by the news. “Siyempre, nalungkot, na-depress, naiyak nga ako. Hindi ko alam kung saan nanggaling ang luha, bigla na lang bumagsak,” he said. (I got sad, depressed. I cried.)

“Ngayon, unti-unti nang nagsi-sink in uli kasi ito na nga yung…kasi before, nagbabalik yung kung ano yung naranasan ko noon sa loob ng condominium, sa mga paratang na ibinigay sa akin.” (Now, it’s slowly sinking in..it’s coming back to me – what I went through inside the condominium, the accusations against me.)

Navarro said that he is worried about the safety of his family now that Lee and Raz are temporarily out of prison. But despite the setback, he is grateful for the support of his fans.

The 3 face charges of serious illegal detention filed by Navarro, who accused them of mauling him last January 2014 in one of the most sensational cases to hit Philippine showbiz in recent years.

Cornejo in turn had accused Navarro of raping her twice in January. Both complaints were dismissed by the Department of Justice and the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office in April and July. 

Navarro said he will stand by his accusations against Cornejo and her friends. “Ako, sinabi ko lahat kung ano yung totoo at meron kaming mga ebidensiya. Hindi ako nagloloko. Hindi ako gumawa ng istorya,” Navarro said.

(I have said the whole truth and we have the evidence. I am not fooling anyone. I am not making up stories.)

Deniece Cornejo still detained

Meanwhile, despite posting bail, Cornejo was not yet released on Wednesday. Her camp failed to secure the signature of a prosecutor for her release papers.

According to a report on ABS-CBN quoting Ferdinand Topacio, Cornejo’s lawyer, she will have to spend one more night at the detention center of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Camp Crame.

The same report also said that Cornejo is expected to be released Thursday.

Cornejo’s co-accused, Lee and Raz were released on Tuesday after posting bail. – Rappler.com
