MANILA, Philippines – The filing of Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) will be electronic beginning 2018, the Office of the Ombudsman said on Thursday, September 28.

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has signed the Memorandum Circular directing heads of agencies that beginning April 30 next year, the required date of filing, officials and employees should submit electronic copies of their SALNs. Officals are also required to submit a certificate saying that the e-SALN is a faithful reproduction of the original one.

“The e-SALN must be in PDF format and individually saved per declarant in compact discs or flash drives,” the Office of the Ombudsman said.

The Office of the Ombudsman said that the e-SALN is a “key institutional mechanism to combat corruption and promote accountability and ethical standards in public service.”

Under the new directive, the officials will access, fill up and file their SALNs through the internet. – Rappler.com
