MANILA, Philippines – A cop in Bukidnon was killed while 3 others were wounded early morning Thursday, December 12, when suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels attacked the municipal police station in Kibawe, Bukidnon. 

Undetermined number of NPA rebels wearing Army camouflage uniform arrived in the area aboard privately owned vans. Using high-powered firearms, the group fired upon the Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel assigned in Kibawe Municipal Police Station,” according to military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala. 

The firefight happened at 5:15 am. The suspected NPA rebels took the firearms of police: 7 M16 rifles, 3 9mm guns, 2 caliber 45 and ammunitions.

The NPA is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
