LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A motorized boat with engine trouble capsized off Rapu-Rapu Island as big waves hammered it on Friday morning, October 14.

Bicol police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib said all 16 boat passengers were rescued and unharmed.

The initial investigation showed that the motorized boat was carried by strong current after it developed engine trouble and entered an area with big big waves, causing it to capsize.

The crew of RMLC 1, a commuter ferry that happened the pass by, witnessed the incident and rescued the passengers.

Personnel of the Rapu-Rapu town police station, who were passengers of the ferry, also helped in the rescue.
