Rainy Wednesday in parts of Mindanao, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines – Rainy weather will continue in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday, January 22, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Remnants of the low pressure area – the former Tropical Depression Agaton – was located 460km east of Davao City as of 4 pm Tuesday, January 21, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast.

Cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rainfall is in the forecast for Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and the provinces of Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental.

These areas should be on the lookout for possible flash floods and landslides, the bureau warned.

The rest of Mindanao is expected to have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, while the rest of the Visayas will have cloudy skies with light rain.

Luzon, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with isolated rain.

With the northeast monsoon continuing to affect weather in parts of the country, cooler temperatures will also prevail across the archipelago. Metro Manila can expect temperatures as low as 19°C, while Baguio City might be able to experience a low of 9°C.

The prevailing winds will primarily come from the northeast. There are no tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the bureau added.
