A commotion between protesters and the police took place during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) rally on Monday, July 26.
The commotion happened after the police arranged orange barriers to limit the space of the demonstrators in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.
According to BAYAN secretary general Renato Reyes, who led the protesters, the arrangement of barricades were not included in their agreed rules for Monday’s protests.
After a few minutes, the protesters finally continued their march to Tandang Sora when the police removed the barricades.
On Saturday, July 24, progressive groups, Quezon City local government, and the police agreed on a set of standardized rules on the conduct of protests during the SONA. – Rappler.com
