MANILA, Philippines – On April 2 (April 3 MNL), comedienne and talk show host Ellen Degeneres happily announced on her talk show that the sequel for 2003’s “Finding Nemo” has received the green light: this time, the character she voiced in the first movie, Dory, will be the star.

Dory replaces adorable clown fish Nemo in the sequel simply titled “Finding Dory.”

“Finding Nemo” is about a clown fish Marlin who searches all depths of the ocean for his missing son Nemo. On his journey, he meets Dory, an optimistic regal blue tang with a short-term memory; 3 sharks named Bruce, Chum, and Anchor; and a surfer sea turtle named Crush.

It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2003 and was the second highest-grossing film that same year.

The comedienne preluded her announcement with a recap of the many times she has expressed her wish for a sequel. The video shows her griping about the many sequel films Pixar has produced in the past years — all except a sequel to “Finding Nemo.”

Her happiness was evident when she admitted, “I will be Dory again which is the most fun in the world to play.”

She also had nothing but positive feedback about the progress of the film.

“I read the script. It’s fantastic, it’s hilarious, it’s warm. It’s everything that you want it to be.”
