MANILA, Philippines - No charges were filed against actress Claudine Barretto over the infamous airport scuffle with broadcaster Ramon Tulfo in May 2012.
Citing lack of probable cause, the Pasay City Prosecutor's Office dismissed Tulfo's complaint accusing her of attempted homicide, grave coercion, and oral defamation, according to a report on abs-cbnnews.com.
But Barretto's husband, actor Raymart Santiago, was charged with physical injury and grave coercion before the Metropolitan Trial Court. The couple's companion Eduardo Atilano was also charged for inflicing injuries.
The celebrity couple welcome the prosecutor's decision, reported abs-cbnnews.com.
“[We are] humbled and thankful for this decision for it shows that indeed the court in dispensing justice is insulated from public opinion and considers not quantity but the quality of evidence submitted by the parties,” according to a statement. - Rappler.com
