Mariah Carey croons about 'Christmas in New York' during a concert

MANILA, Philippines – Everyone’s familiar with Mariah Carey’s Christmas classic “All I Want for Christmas is You,” but the singer recently came up with a new Christmas song, and she did it while she was live on stage.

On the final night of her Beacon Theatre Christmas residency in New York, Mariah came up with a new song about just that – Christmas in New York.

“Well you guys know it’s Christmas and we make up Christmas songs when we’re in a happy, jolly mood,” she said, kicking off her song.

After a minute or so of crooning about the holidays in the city, Mariah tells her audience, “I’m freestyling, it’s not my best.”

And while she may not have thought it was great, the audience’s cheers throughout the performance said otherwise.

Mariah isn’t the only musician getting into the holiday spirit by singing Christmas songs.

Michael Buble and Celine Dion recently sang John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” together, while Miley Cyrus toned down her outrageous antics when she sang “Silent Night.”
