(3rd UPDATE) 'The [chief of PNP] has already given [instructions] to the ground troops to implement the MMDA reso tonight,' says PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana

After hours of confusion, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it would start implementing the 8 pm to 5 am curfew in Metro Manila on Monday night, April 12.

The National Capital Region (NCR), Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal were placed under modified enhanced community quarantine, the second strictest quarantine restriction, from April 12 to 30.

“Yes, it (curfew) is to be readily implemented by the PNP in NCR. The [chief of PNP] has already given [instructions] to the ground troops to implement the MMDA reso tonight,” PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said in a message to reporters.

The PNP earlier said curfew hours would stay from 6 pm to 5 am until they receive a copy of the Metropolitan Manila Development Association (MMDA) resolution changing the curfew hours.

“The MMDA [resolution] of adjusting the curfew hours from 8 pm to 5 am is still being awaited by the PNP. Until its issuance, the curfew hours will remain to start at 6 pm and end at 5 am,” Usana earlier told reporters in a message.

However, as of 6 pm of April 12, the PNP said they have not received a copy of the resolution.

Around 8 pm of April 12, MMDA Chairman Abalos released the resolution signed by the 17 Metro Manila mayors. However, Abalos admitted that the PNP has yet to receive the copy.  – Rappler.com
