
MANILA, Philippines – The Gilas Cadets were on the giving end of a painful blowout on Tuesday, April 28, as they demolished Laos, 124-37, to win their second straight game in the 2015 SEABA at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
A day after trampling Indonesia 92-36, the Philippine team raced off to another quick start by establishing a 37-5 after the first 10 minutes of play. The rest of the game was merely a formality, as the Philippines were unquestionably en route to another rout.
Former NU big man Troy Rosario finished with 19 points to lead all scorers in addition to 6 boards. Bobby Ray Parks continued his stellar play in the tournament with 18 markers to go with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
Jiovani Jalalon was all over the court against Laos, racking up 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals. Earl Scottie Thompson struggled from the field by shooting just 2-of-10 and scoring 7 points, but did haul down 10 boards and dished out 7 dimes.
Kevin Ferrer and Russel Escoto took care of scoring for the Gilas Cadets by posting identical 16-point, 8-rebound, and 3-assist statlines.
Kiefer Ravena played only 18 minutes and registered 9 points, while naturalized big man Marcus Douthit didn’t see action.
The Philippines will be back in action on Wednesday, April 29, when they go up against Malaysia at 6:00 pm. Malaysia beat Brunei 81-42 on Monday, April 27, and is currently facing Indonesia. – Rappler.com
