Bacolod City has provided full COVID-19 vaccine coverage to 518,972 individuals, double its target of 257,332 for persons between 18 and 59 years old, the Department of Health Western Visayas (DOH 6) said on Thursday, October 6.

Even among more hesitant senior citizens, the independently-administered capital of Negros Occidental has fuly vaccinated 154.04% of its target population or 79,425 indivuals.

The city, however is still short of its target in terms of booster shots.

In a statement, the city health office warned residents to get boosted or risk being left out due to dwindling vaccine stocks. The only available brands available are Sinovac and Pfizer, it added.

Only 79,585 of adults or 30.93% in the 18 to 59 age group have received their first booster doses. The coverage rate drastically drops for second booster shots to only 6,346 or 2.47%, DOH Western Visayas data showed.

Among senior citizens, 14,882 or 28.6% have received their first booster shots while only 2,800 or 4.62% got second booster doses.

Bacolod needs to have 50% of its adult populated boosted by October 8, according to the DOH’s “PinasLakas” campaign. – Rappler.com
