Colonel Richmond Tadina, acting chief of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, says the cops are related to some election hopefuls, either by sanguinity or by affinity

Forty-one police personnel under the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) are set to be transferred because they are related to aspirants in the May 2022 elections.

Colonel Richmond Tadina, officer-in-charge of the PPO, made the announcement on Monday, November 22, during his courtesy call to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan regular session.

Tadina did not mention the names of police involved. He said the 41 cops are related to some election hopefuls in the province, either by sanguinity or by affinity.

The PNP also plans to transfer city or town police chiefs who have spent two or more years in their current posts, and rank and file cops who served in an area for 10 years and beyond, Tadina added.

The Police Regional Office Ilocos Region (PRO1) is set to announce the transfer orders soon, he said.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Pangasinan has still not identified areas of the province’s hotspots.

Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said the province’s joint security council is set to convene in January 2022.

Doon pa lamang mapag-uusapan at malalaman kung anong lugar sa Pangasinan ang mapapasama po sa areas of immediate concern“, said Salas. (That’s only when we will discuss and decide on which places in Pangasinan to include in the list of areas of immediate concern.)

The official campaign period for local candidates is from March 25 to May 7 and February 8 to May 7 for national candidates. – Rappler.com
